So a while ago I mentioned that I have finally used up all of my sample bottles of moisturizers, shampoos and conditioners. I have now reached the stage where the large shampoo and conditioner in my bathroom are only a quarter full. I like to source my replacement zerowaste items before I actually run out of the old product because it means I can spend time researching a replacement and don’t just panic buy the easy option because I have nothing left. I switched to package free bar soap I can buy at my local market ages ago but honestly, shampoo and conditioner were staples I was worried about finding without plastic. I wasn’t really sure about the no-poo baking soda and cider vinegar method and I was absolutely certain I would have a tough time selling it to my boyfriend. However, I did some searching to see if I could find bar shampoo in Dublin. And lo and behold! Lush, in all its smelly glory, turned up not only shampoo but conditioner too. This post is unsponsored I just liked their product and thought I’d share it because if you are also in Dublin then you might be having the same difficulty finding zerowaste alternatives. I tested the shampoo first and will go back for the conditioner when I need it. They come completely unpackaged with no petroleum based ingredients and there is an option of purchasing a metal reusable tin that works as a travel case. I started using the shampoo this week to test and my hair is shiny! I’m told they are very economical and you really don’t need too much every time because it lathers up a lot in the palm of your hand with just a rub of the bar. I like to switch up my shampoos every so often so hopefully there are other types of bar shampoo I can find but these will definitely work for now. I think this is a definite sustainable option for zerowaste shampoos – why doesn’t every company make them?
